I've finally got it together to get one of those flicker accounts and put up the photos of when we first arrived at the Lovely House (if the slideshow actually turns up on the sidebar). I have already gone on about this place at length here and here.

Is that a blurred picture of you with a pair of long johns over your arms?
ReplyDeleteI like the kitties in the persimmon tree.
ReplyDeleteThe Lovely House house has the same surreal personality as an earwig sandwich. It's truly a lovely house.
ReplyDeleteThe Lovely House is well named.
ReplyDeleteDown and through the rabbet hole ... bugs and people disappear. See you soon.
ReplyDeletefor goodness sakes!
ReplyDeletei actually worried about your living conditions. now i see you're living some kind of bloody Frenchified idyll. i feel cheated.
i bet you've had a manservant this whole time too.
It's all a bit magic. Exploring it must have been such fun. Strangely eclectic, too; part Roman Villa, part Tudor revival, part harpsichord lid (I love the painted ceilings). And now I know what to do in the damper, less-used bedrooms; bowls of salt.
ReplyDeleteOoo - get you with your slideshow - I loved it.
ReplyDeleteMore please
V. impressed. V. jealous. V. not fair.
ReplyDeleteIt looks impressive. It also looks like it has "capability" - e.g. you could go with Brother T.'s idea about the harpsichord lid and make it look even more like a Viennese music box.
ReplyDeleteGorilla - can you not tell petticoats from long johns?
ReplyDeletexl - so do I
bb and Pru - Glad you think so
Bill - But will you?... I may be too small after the potion
TP - sorry I didn't realise that I'd been so shamelessly self-pitying. The rubber-wearing manservants are just for show, I still ave to was-up
Brother T - I love the idea that we're living in a Roman villa installed in a giant harpsicord
Hi Frenchie - that slideshow took long enough and now there is barely time to type this, so don't hold your breathe for more.
ReplyDeleteMadame D - remember it is also V. damp and V. cold
Gadjo - are you suggesting that I gild the panelling and add a baroque touch to the overall effect?
I love it. I'm coming over to stay. Right now.

I'm scraping the mildew off the sheets right now - you'll love the heavy old linen
